Company Leaders

Celling Technologies was formed by a team of experts in science, medicine and engineering.  Although their backgrounds are diverse, they are guided by a common philosophy:  regenerative medicine offers infinite potential to transform the medical landscape and improve the lives of millions.

Kevin Dunworth

Founder / CEO

Kevin Dunworth, Founder of Celling Technologies, has spent more than 26 years in the orthopedic industry and brings a wealth of expertise in all aspects of the business. Dunworth has run medical companies in the Middle East, Eastern and Western Europe, and the United States.

He excelled in various executive positions before founding VCD Medical, in Austin, Texas.
For the past eight years, Dunworth has successfully built a world-class distribution business, which provides a variety of orthopedic and biologic products.

Dunworth's leadership roles within the orthopedic industry have included, Director of Emerging Markets and Director of European Sales for Smith & Nephew; Director of International Sales, Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Vice President for FlouroScan International and Vice President of Sales for TransLeasing and Vice President for TransLeasing GE.


Steve Melchiode

President
Steve Melchiode has extensive experience guiding businesses from start-up to profitability. After earning an undergraduate marketing degree followed by a law degree, Melchiode joined a start-up technology firm in Silicon Valley as the West Coast business development director. Melchiode's ability to build and lead successful companies, combined with his experience in medical device sales, provides him with the vision and expertise to lead the Celling Technologies team. He brings a wide range of experience in sales, business development, marketing, finance, legal and operations management.

Melchiode began his medical device career as a sales representative with VCD Medical, learning the spinal implant industry selling Depuy Spine. After two years spent growing several new territories, Melchiode established himself in a leadership role as sales manager and by running operations for the State of Texas. For the past two years, he has worked with Kevin Dunworth to take the Celling Technologies model from concept to market, working on business, product and partnership development as well as marketing and operations.


Michael Gluk

Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer
Michael Gluk joined Celling Technologies in July 2009 as Chief Operating Officer. Prior to joining the company, Michael served as CFO of ArthroCare, a $300 million dollar revenue medical device company where he led the finance, human resource and information technology functions. From 1985 through 2004 Michael worked at General Motors Corporation in a variety of financial and business development positions, including general director of financial planning, controller of GM do Brasil and director of business development for eGM.

Mr. Gluk holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Miami University of Ohio.


Jim Poser

VP of Regenerative Medicine

Jim Poser joined Celling Technologies in March 2009 as Vice President of Regenerative Medicine. Poser began his industrial career over 28 years ago as a research scientist developing bone diagnostics and orthobiologics for skeletal repair. Dr. Poser has held executive positions of increasing responsibility with Sulzer Orthopedics, Osteotech, Orquest, Stryker Orthopaedics and IsoTis Orthobiologics among others.

Poser has been responsible for the development of many successful synthetic and allograft-based bone graft materials, is the inventor on nine patents and author on over 40 peer-reviewed publications. For the past several years Dr. Poser has directed his attention to the development of cell-based therapies for tissue regeneration.

Dr. Poser holds a Doctorate in Chemistry from University of California San Diego and a Bachelor of Science degree Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from University of California Santa Barbara.


Brian Burkinshaw

VP of Research and Development

Brian Burkinshaw joined Spinesmith Partners, LP in June of 2010 as the Vice President of Research and Development. Brian has over 30 years of experience in multiple medical device markets as a design engineer and in senior executive positions. His experience includes the evaluation and development of technologies for venture capital investment, medical device design and development, project management, business development, product commercialization, patent prosecution, and operations.

Brian has a background in medical devices and experience in biologics provides Spinesmith with the experience to continue merging the two fields. Brian will work closely with the scientific team, clinicians, and the engineering team to develop products and systems for regenerative medicine and cell therapy applications.


Kevin Were

VP of Business Development

Kevin Were joined Celling Technologies in May 2009 as Director of Business Development. Mr. Were has over 20 years experience in the medical device and osteobiologic market and provides proven leadership to the sales and business development teams. Prior to joining the company, Mr. Were held numerous executive positions including management and business development positions at Integra Orthobiologics, IsoTis Orthobiologics, GenSci, Acromed and most recently Vice President of Sales at Spine Matrix.

Mr. Were is responsible for expanding the company's presence both regionally and nationally by growing direct sales, identifying Institutes of Regenerative Medicine and building a distribution network. Mr. Were will work closely with the Institutes of Regenerative Medicine sites by implementing strategic plans to research and develop adult stem cell technologies and lead collaboration for all partners involved.

Mr. Were earned a B.S. In Electrical Engineering from the University of New South Wales in Sydney Australia.


Laura LeBoeuf

VP of Quality and Regulatory Affairs

Laura LeBoeuf joined SpineSmith as Quality Assurance Specialist in 2009 with over 20 years of experience in the medical device industry. She is currently the Vice President of Quality & Regulatory Affairs with responsibility for all aspects of the quality system and regulatory compliance efforts.

Her career in medical devices began in 1986 as a Quality Engineer supporting manufacturing and product development efforts related to heart valve replacement and repair. Her medical device experience includes quality, reliability, manufacturing, and product engineering as well as project management. Her work in medical device engineering and engineering management encompasses products for cardiac, orthopedic, general surgery, diagnostic and spine applications.

Laura holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Texas A& M University.


Greg Forman

Director of Emerging Technologies

Mr. Forman began with Spinesmith Partners in 2006 as the Director of Business Development and worked closely on several deals involving the first adult stem cell devices to reach the US market.

Mr. Forman has 25 years experience in the medical device industry and launched several innovative devices throughout his career. Mr. Forman began his career in sales for Acromed and Smith and Newphew and most recently spent time in business development positions with Astrom Bioscience and Regenetech.With a broad understanding of science and medical devices,  Forman brings his expertise of recognizing medical market trends to the emerging field of  regenerative medicine.

Mr. Forman earned a BA in Science and Math at Michigan State University while lettering four years in collegiate swimming.
